About Shaflan Press#
Shaflan Press is an independent publishing house, established at the end of 2025 in the Netherlands. It focuses on publishing works in the Persian (Farsi/Dari) language, with particular attention to literature, history, and cultural thought. At the same time, the press remains open to works in other languages that offer insight, intellectual value, and contribute to dialogue across cultures. Shaflan aims to create a space for thoughtful writing and to connect authors and readers across regions and traditions.
The name Shaflan refers to a historical place near Herat, along the Hari River, in what is today known as Pashtun Zarghun District. The original name was removed from official use by a formal verdict decades ago. By choosing the name Shaflan, the press seeks to preserve a fragment of cultural memory and to keep it present through the works it publishes.
